Auto Scaling Using Policies

JSDN allows you to scale your virtual machines up or down using policies. Increasing or decreasing the resources such as CPU or RAM of a virtual machine is referred to as scaling up or down. For example, adding processing power to server makes it faster. This is also called vertical scaling. Scaling horizontally is accomplished by adding or removing instances (servers) from the existing work unit. Scaling out refers to adding instances and scaling in refers to removing instances. You can create policies for auto scaling i.e., you can create policies to auto scale based on monitoring parameters. For example, if you want to scale out when the base machine’s CPU utilization is at critical level, the system continuously monitors the parameters and if finds out the utilization at critical level, spins up an additional instances. 1. Please note that a maximum of 5 instances can be only be scaled out for one particular instance. And while scaling in, the latest instance will be terminated first.
