Launch Appliance from AWS Console

In this section, we take you through step by step process to launch Jamcracker Appliance.

Note: An AMI (JSDNAppAMI) would be shared with your AWS paying account.
  1. Launch AWS Console and Sign-In to the console.
  2. Navigate to EC2 > Network & Security > Elastic IPs and click Allocate New Address and get a new elastic IP.
  3. Navigate to EC2 > Images > AMIs page and select PRIVATE images from the drop-down list. A list of existing private images gets displayed.

  4. Search for JSDNAppAMIimage and select it.
  5. Click Launch.
  6. Select Instance Type as “t2.large” minimum configuration. `

  7. Click Configure Instance Details and select the appropriate network and subnet details. You can use the default values or select values specific to your network setup.
Note: If you have already created a Virtual Private Cloud and Subnets, select the same from the respective drop-down list. Please ensure the Subnets that you have created should have Public IPs to access your Instance or you can auto-assign Public IPs by selecting the enable option from the Auto-assign Public IPs from the drop-down list. Click here to know how to create VPC and Subnets.

  8. Click Add Storage. On this Add Storage page, you can set the storage limit.

  9. Click Add Tags. On this page you can tag the instance. This step is optional for you.

  10. Click Add Security Groups. On this page you can either create a new security group or edit an existing security group. Accordingly, you can select the radio button.

  11. If you have selected Create a New Security Group radio button, by default, a rule with port 22, port 80 and port 443 is created for public access as part of the instance creation. You can delete it and create your own network rules.

  12. Click Add Rule. On this page you can add rules for accessing the instance. For example, HTTP and or HTTPS.
Table 1. Protocol and Port Range
    Type Protocol Port Range Source

HTTPS TCP 443 X.X.X.X/X (Your Source IP Address)
  13. Click Reviewand Launch. Once the verification is done, click Launch.

  14. Use the pop-up either to select an existing key pair or create a new one. These key pairs are used to login to the VMs from SSH Clients.

    • JSDN_SERVER_PUBLIC_IP = <Elastic IP mapped to JSDN APPSERVER Instance>
    • JSDN_SERVER_PRIVATE_IP = <Private IP of the JSDN APPSERVER>

You have installed Jamcracker Appliance. Now, you need to add the host file entries in your system from where you will be accessing the application.

<JSDN_SERVER_PUBLIC_IP> jcp.jccloudplatform.com

For Example: Add 52.224.25.21 jcp.jccloudplatform.com in your host file. Your host file normally located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts location.
